Located in the picture postcard village of South Pool the Inn can be reached by boat from Salcombe and is well worth the effort. Superb food (especially the crab sandwiches) and ales straight from the cask are served in what can be a busy establishment for such a rural location. The rear terrace is hardly big enough to swing a crab round but with ducks floating on the stream it is a very pleasant way to spend a lunchtime.

	Excellent inn dating back to 1336, found in one of England's finest locations. The Pilchard Inn is located on Burgh Island, at low tide a pleasant walk across the sandy beach but at high tide the inn is accessed by sea tractor. Originally a fishing cottage, later used by smugglers the inn is today said to be haunted. Noel Coward and Agatha Christie were also regular visitors to Burgh Island. Basic food is served but served well and the ales are very well kept.

Owned by Burrator Parish Council and situated within Dartmoor National Park, in an idyllic location next to the village green. Named after the 800 year old village oak tree with seats which are pews from the adjacent church. Good quality food is well prepared from local produce including fish from Plymouth.

	Wonderful little inn dating back to 1347 in the lovely village of Slapton in Start Bay. The Tower inn was originally the cottages of the workers who built the monastic collegiate which casts its' shadow over the inn. Stone walls and low ceilings give the Tower Inn a homely atmosphere and pictures on the wall of the bar of a couple of Sir Winston Churchill's classic quotes will bring a smile to your face. Excellent quality food along with a good wine list and a range of well kept cask ales. Parking is limited but then the village is worth walking through anyway and the destination well worth it.

Ducks and kingfishers can be seen around the adjacent creek but if you stay at the Waterman's you may get to see the resident ghost !

Located close to the Somerset border on the old A30 London to Land's End road, the inn is fairly basic inside but serves cask ales and pub grub. There is also a shove ha'penny board.
