Located in the picture postcard village of South Pool the Inn can be reached by boat from Salcombe and is well worth the effort. Superb food (especially the crab sandwiches) and ales straight from the cask are served in what can be a busy establishment for such a rural location. The rear terrace is hardly big enough to swing a crab round but with ducks floating on the stream it is a very pleasant way to spend a

 Excellent inn dating back to 1336, found in one of England's finest locations. The Pilchard Inn is located on Burgh Island, at low tide a pleasant walk across the sandy beach but at high tide the inn is accessed by sea tractor. Originally a fishing cottage, later used by smugglers the inn is today said to be haunted. Noel Coward and Agatha Christie were also regular visitors to Burgh Island. Basic food is served but served well and the ales are very well kept. |

The Tower inn was originally the cottages of the workers who built the monastic collegiate which casts its' shadow over the inn. owned by Sir Francis Drake in 1582. Located close to the Somerset border on the old A30
